Germination Information

Pre-treatment: Plant the whole core of the vi fruit which usually contains 1 or 2 viable seeds. It is difficult to separate the seeds without damaging them.

Establishment: Vi trees are somewhat dormant for the winter months. Vi trees bear fruit nearly year-round, with a peak season of November - April in Hawaii. The plant is native throughout South and South-East Asia and has been introduced throughout the tropics. It is an important plant in some Pacific Island countries, such as Samoa.
