Germination Information
Pre-treatment: Surface sterilize seed coats with a 3 minute Physan fungicide soak or a 3 minute 5% bleach solution. Maximize germination rates with a smoke water treatment for 24 hours using Wright's Liquid Smoke at the rate of 1:2 (v:v) liquid smoke to water.
Establishment: Species can be susceptible to damping-off disease. Capsules are hand collected when fully matured, typically from late June through July. Found throughout southern California, rare on Catalina Island.
