Propagation & Germination
Pre-treatment: Seeds are scarified and given a hot water soak (76§ C water poured over seeds and allowed to cool over 24 hour period)
Establishment: S. hermaphrodita is found in non forested areas within temperate deciduous forests of eastern North America and grows in open, moist locations along rivers and thrives in full sun to partial shade. It's range is Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia to southern Michigan and Tennessee. Germination was equal in light and dark.
