Germination Information

Pre-treatment: Mix the seeds with an equal amount of vermiculite or perlite, adding enough water to barely saturate the mixture. Stratify for at least two months in a refrigerator or cold garage. Seeds can be stored up to 3 years.

Establishment: Seeds are collected from locally native plants within the eastern central Upper Peninsula. The plant prefers rich deciduous woods, dappled sunlight and thickets along rivers.
