* How these results were determined: ecoregion boundaries come from a global habitat classification developed by conservation scientists at the World Wildlife Fund. Plant occurrence records come from GBIF (the Global Biodiversity Information Facility), an international open-data network built largely from citizen and academic scientists who photograph plants in the field and upload the sighting with GPS coordinates through apps like iNaturalist. We cross-reference each plant's occurrence points against the ecoregion boundaries and each species' known native range in this country to flag which matches are best supported by the evidence. Because the ecoregion plant listings depend on citizen-science mobile phone data, they are not fully complete and some ecorgions are skipped due to lack of data.
